EVFTA Opens New Chapter for Vietnam’s Garment Industry
The EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) marks a turning point for Vietnam’s garment industry and EU buyers, eliminating nearly 99% of customs duties. Starting in 2024, garments made with Vietnamese-origin fabrics will enjoy 0% import tax, and by 2025, all apparel exports will be entirely tax-free. These changes enhance the competitiveness of Vietnam garment factories, offering EU partners significant cost savings and efficient supply chains.
Beyond tariff reductions, the EVFTA simplifies trade processes by removing consular authentication requirements after three years. With a seven-year roadmap for full tariff liberalization, the agreement bolsters Vietnam’s position as a leading Vietnam clothing manufacturer, particularly in textiles and apparel. This partnership empowers EU buyers to source high-quality, sustainable products from garment factories in Vietnam, fostering stronger, cost-effective, and mutually beneficial trade relationships.

A flag of EVFTA.
