Lately, we have been receiving quite a few emails requesting for garments made from recycled polyester or recycled polyester mixed.
Below are the choices we have:
Option 1: Buying Recycled Polyester or Recycled Polyester Mixed Yarns from Vietnam.
This will help being certified for CPTPP which requires yarn forward.
Some of the available compositions are 60% BCI Cotton 40% Recycled Polyester, 60% Cotton 40% Recycled Polyester, 60% Cotton 40% Unifi Repreve Polyester, 48% Organic Cotton 40% Recycled Polyester 12% Recycled Cotton….
Fabric such as Single Jersey, Pique, Rib, Double Knit can be knitted, dyed (with functional finishing such as Wicking, Antimicrobial treatment, UV sun protection 50+, Antistatic treatment, Adaptive, Waterproof) in Vietnam.
Option 2: Buying Recycled Polyester or Recycled Polyester Mixed Yarns from China and other countries
This will help being certified for GSP form A and EVFTA which require fabric to be knitted and dyeing in Vietnam.
There are quite vast choices. Some of the available compositions are 51% Recycled Polyester 49% Acrylic, 52% Recycled Polyester 34% Acrylic 10% Nylon 4% Spandex, 84% Recycled Polyester 16% Linen, 96% Recycled Polyester 4% Wool.
Same story with Option 2: Fabric such as Single Jersey, Pique, Rib, Double Knit can be knitted, dyed (with functional finishing such as Wicking, Antimicrobial treatment, UV sun protection 50+, Antistatic treatment, Adaptive, Waterproof) in Vietnam.
Option 3: Buying Recycled Polyester or Recycled Polyester Mixed fabric from China, Korea, Taiwan…
Since China, Korea, Taiwan are much more advanced than in Vietnam on R&D, knitting, dyeing…., many more options can be found there.
Single Jersey, Pique, Rib, Double Knit are popular and functional finishing such as Wicking, Antimicrobial treatment, UV sun protection 50+, Antistatic treatment, Adaptive, Waterproof are not a problem in Vietnam. More special knitting structures are hard to source in Vietnam and better to be sourced in other countries.

Recyled polyester: recyled waste polyester bottle flakes, polyester fabric, spinning waste as raw materials for spinning, at the same time can be online dope dyeing, greatly reducing water and energy consumption.
